Preventing premature skin aging: Farida Skin Care Studio

What is an infrared sauna and what benefits does it provide?

An infrared sauna warms the body directly with infrared light waves. It is a dry heat therapy that does not use water or add humidity. This allows deep penetration into muscle tissues without feeling too hot or uncomfortable. Regular sessions can stimulate collagen production, which helps to prevent premature skin aging. This therapy improves blood flow, reduces chronic pain while stimulating relaxation. In addition, the deep heat penetration helps to remove many of the internal toxins that result from unhealthy food, pollution, and heavy metals. At Farida Studio many of our guests enjoy 30 minutes in the infrared sauna followed by a 90-minute massage and body scrub.

No pain, All game: Mount Sinai Orthopedics – Scarsdale

How can you beat the heat and stay injury-free during summer sports?

Summer sports are a great way to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. Whether a professional athlete or weekend warrior, some of the best ways to prevent injuries include:

  1. Stay hydrated to replenish fluids lost during sweating.
  2. Perform dynamic warmups, such as lunges, squats, and jumping jacks, to get your muscles ready for physical activity.
  3. Incorporate a healthy diet to fuel your body with the right nutrients for optimal performance and recovery.
  4. Adjust intensity and duration of exercise based on the heat index and recognize early signs of heat illness.
  5. Listen to your body and seek orthopedic care if you experience pain or discomfort.

By following these tips, you can help reduce your risk of sports injuries and stay in the game all summer long.

Restoring and reviving your smile: Scarsdale Oral Surgery

I’m considering getting implants to improve my smile. How do you determine the best position for placing implants?

Determining the best position for a dental implant is driven by the ideal placement of the tooth. The addition of an intraoral scanner, coupled with our low-radiation cone beam CT scan, have allowed us to diagnose and plan our implants better than has been possible in the past. We can create computer-generated guides in our office on one of our 3D dental printers to help ensure the implants are placed in the areas we planned with minimal surgery and maximum accuracy.

Deciding between Invisalign or traditional braces: Smile Style NY

How do I know which is the best way for me to fix my smile, Invisalign® or traditional braces?

Although there is no one-size-fits-all solution, both Invisalign® and traditional braces have their pros and cons. Invisalign® uses clear plastic aligners that are virtually invisible and removable, eliminating concerns about the appearance of braces or damaging them when eating or drinking. However, Invisalign® is completely dependent on being worn for the recommended amount of time each day. Traditional braces, on the other hand, effectively treat a wide range of orthodontic issues, including severe crowding and misalignment. More visible than Invisalign®, they may be more predictable in achieving results by being fixed in place. However, traditional braces require careful attention to oral hygiene and dietary restrictions to avoid damaging the brackets and wires. As a board-certified orthodontist, I work with patients to determine the best treatment option for their needs and preferences in achieving a healthy, confident smile.

Brightening your smile: WestDental

Lately when I look in the mirror, I am noticing yellowing and stains on my teeth. What can I do to bring back my bright smile?

We all love to see a bright, white smile when looking in the mirror and it can be disconcerting when you don’t see that in your reflection. Staining is one of the most common issues that can plague your teeth and could be the result of numerous causes. Not only is staining unsightly, but it can also be a sign of oral health issues. While limiting certain foods and drinks, such as coffee, red wine, and tomato sauce, as well as quitting smoking to help with this, we can utilize several cosmetic procedures, such as teeth whitening, bonding, or veneers, to make a larger impact on your smile. We explain the different options available, guide you in making the choice that is right for you, and make sure you walk out with a healthier smile that shines bright and white.

Avoiding acid reflux while vacationing: White Plains Hospital Physician Associates

How can I avoid getting acid reflux on vacation?

Acid reflux, or acid indigestion, occurs when the acid in the stomach backs up into the esophagus. Reflux is often triggered by many of the habit changes we experience during a vacation — larger meals, increased alcohol intake, or specific foods. During the extended daylight hours of the summer months, we also tend to eat later in the evening, which can worsen reflux and also cause a cough, choking sensation, heartburn, or chest pain at night — the opposite of a restful vacation!

There are several ways you can prevent acid reflux: avoid chocolate, tomatoes, spicy foods, vinegar, carbonated beverages, coffee, and fatty foods. Stay upright after eating and avoid bending or straining to lift heavy objects. Acid reflux tends to flare up at nighttime, so it’s important to remember to stop eating and drinking about three hours before you plan to go to sleep. Wear loose pajamas and sleep with your head elevated 6 to 8 inches from the bed. Sleeping on your left side can also help alleviate symptoms, as it keeps the junction between the stomach and esophagus above the level of gastric acid.

In addition, smoking cigarettes, obesity, certain medications, and hiatal hernia can all play a role in the onset of acid reflux. If your symptoms are severe or last a long time, or if you have trouble swallowing, are losing weight, experience chest or abdominal pain, choke when eating, vomit blood, or have bowel movements that are black or red, schedule an appointment with your gastroenterologist.
